4th Social – Winter Tales

The SAS organises 3 to 4 Socials each year for Professional and Associate Members to gather, share stories and meet each other in a friendly and supportive environment. Socials are free of charge for all Professional and Associate Members. Guests pay $10. (Over 16s only).

MOVING INTO STORY – A Workshop by British Storyteller Cassandra Wye

Join international storyteller, Cassandra Wye  for a 3-hour workshop  which will use  movement as the catalyst for bringing a story alive.

In this workshop, you will be introduced to the Stories in Motion approach to creating a unique version of a story  through movement, drama and sound improvisation, solo, partner and group work

Participants will explore:

  • How to warm up effectively to harness the body’s potential to tell a story visually AND verbally
  • How to use movement as a stimulus to devise a unique version of a traditional tale
  • How to choreograph a performance from improvisation to performance


This is a storytelling event specially for the families of SAS members! 

Date: August 5th 2017 (Saturday)

Time: 6 – 8.30pm (inclusive of a light dinner, storytelling and games)

Each SAS member is entitled to bring 2 children free-of-charge to the event. Each additional child will be charged $10.

An adult guest of SAS members will be charged $10.

Stories told will be appropriate for age range of 4-9 years old.

A Workshop by British Storyteller Craig Jenkins



Join international storyteller, Craig Jenkins for a 6-hour workshop exploring the techniques needed to develop simple stories into fresh and engaging performance pieces. Using well-known world folk and fairy tales, Craig will show you how to interpret these classic stories in new and innovative ways, by adding songs, music, humour, movement and characterisation, while still retaining the essence of the original tale.
