Master Class Topic for 2010:

CREATING A PERFORMANCE PIECE.

Learn the importance and the art of segue, so that your stories flow with grace and purpose.  Telling stories is only part of the art, the nesting, the holding and the ways into and out of those stories is equally important.

In this workshop you will deconstruct a brief performance by Donna to identify the elements and techniques that ‘worked’ to make it a seamless and satisfying performance piece as opposed to a number of stories.  Throughout the rest of the day, participants will identify the kind of stories they are drawn to, and the Most Important Thing in the story/stories that they wish to work with, so that they can begin to build their own performance piece drawing on traditional and/or personal stories and other sources including poetry, dreams, music, anecdotes, etc.

they will work in groups – practicing the techniques and elements that have been identified, and with the sources they may wish to bring, or the sources that are provided, and begin a sense of a performance piece that they will be be invited to perform to the group, for review and reflection.

Please bring a story or several stories that you wish to work with. In addition you are welcome to bring musical instruments, music, poetry, small wisdom tales…. anything that may be used  to enhance a performance piece, but this is completely optional.

Suitable only for experienced storytellers. This Master Class is not for beginners
