398.2 Storytelling Festival 2019

1st December 2019

The 5th 398.2 Storytelling Festival is here! SAS has collaborated with Story Connection to carry out the 398.2 Storytelling Festival 2019 held at the National Library on December 1st. The number 398.2 is the Dewey Decimal System section of folktales, fairy-tales, and fables section of the library.
Many of our Professional Members, and Associate Members too, have volunteered on this day to tell stories and manage the logistics to bring a world of stories to the public.
There are different themes every hour (from 10.30am to 6.00pm) and at different parts of the central library:
(1) for children and family at the Programme Zone on Basement 1,
(2) for pre-schoolers at the Visitor’s Briefing Room on the 1st Floor, and
(3) for adults at the Multi-Purpose Room
At the Treehouse, there will also be quizzes organized by World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), Environmental tales by storytellers as well as games with a special edition of story cubes that can be purchased on the spot.

Admission is free for the entire Festival. So, do come with your family and friends!

The schedule of each time slot and themes can be found in the image below

At the Festival, there is a workshop for adults called ‘Once Upon A Family Story…’

Many families have stories that they have not shared with their children or do not know how to go about sharing them. This workshop will give you some ideas on how to gather family stories and share them with your children. This is a workshop for adults. Come with several photographs of your childhood or any significant events in your life (bring actual photographs or printed copies). Open your hearts and mind to explore your family stories.

Time: 3-3:45pm
Venue: National Library Basement 1 Multi – Purpose Room
