Telling stories has always been a passion for Mabel Lee, as she feels that storytelling has the power to impact lives. Mabel tells stories to both children and adults and she especially enjoys telling stories from Asia, as she believes that our children should know the stories of their own culture and their neighbour’s culture.
Mabel’s love for the spoken word started in her teenage years when she performed in many drama productions. Later, as a primary school teacher she used storytelling to teach language, social studies and moral education. After leaving the teaching service she gained a Teaching Diploma in Speech and Drama from Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London, as well as an Advance Certificate in preschool education from Advent Links – SAUC Education Centre and a Diploma in Counselling Skills from Edith Cowan University, Australia.
Since 2000 Mabel has given numerous storytelling performances in theatres, schools and community venues. Storytelling is also a major part of her teaching work; whether it is telling stories in her speech and drama classes, giving workshops to parents on storytelling and story reading, or teaching storytelling skills to all ages.
Mabel is available for:
- Storytelling performances for preschool and primary school children.
- Customised workshops for teaching storytelling skills to preschool and primary classrooms.
- Workplace performances for parents and children.
